THE FUTURE OF ARTHUR'S SEED?

In my last post, I told you about the tragic loss of my dear friend, Graham Cook. What I didn’t mention in the post was that due to his death, his company, WRITERSWORLD, has ceased to operate as a business. So, what does this mean for my book, Arthur’s Seed? Graham’s company handled all the sales through his personal account with Gardeners, the main international wholesaler and distributor of published books throughout the world. They work with multi-channel retailers worldwide, both online and on the high street, to supply physical and digital products. Any royalties from any of my book sales sold through Gardeners were previously paid to me through Graham’s company, but now WRITERSWORLD no longer exists, all sales and royalties will no longer be available to me.

So, what happens now, and what does the future hold for David Cubbage Publishing? Well, a colleague of Graham Cook who worked closely with him told me that he was investigating three possible solutions to keep Arthur’s Seed alive and available in the marketplace. However, this may take a while to choose the best option and put it into operation. In the meantime, Tony has been working on developing several ideas for how to improve the situation by promoting my first book and the two planned follow-up books in different ways on social media and through my website. The plan for us is also to produce a series of audiobooks and e-books of the Arthur’s Seed series to sell or offer for free from my website by upgrading it to an e-commerce site. But this will take a lot of time and energy, plus the possibility of having to incur the extra costs of experimenting and developing our ambitious plan. The other option, which neither of us is in favour of, is to shut down my website and try to forget Arthur’s Seed ever existed.

One of the other ideas we had was to create a video trailer of the story to encourage film production companies to look at purchasing the film rights for Arthur’s Seed. Or the possibility of attracting any group of individuals who would like to get involved in helping us produce our own film or series, as I did when I created the Red Wings Film Project in 2014. For anyone involved in working with open-source software, Blender springs to mind. Tony and I experimented with it to create a Welsh dragon when we were working on the Red Wings Film Project.

Just as an appetiser to the possible outcome of any collaboration with Tony and myself, he has put this little video together as a sample. It's a bit unrefined in places, but Tony is limited in how far he can extend his talents by the available free software he has used to create this little teaser for you.

We hope you enjoyed watching the video, and if you are tempted to get involved with us, please contact me by email at david@arthursseed.co.uk
